Match Report
Eastbourne College Golf team vs  Worth School
On: Thursday, 10 Mar 2022
Venue: Away

A new year and new look - the golf team head to Pyecombe golf club to play Worth in the quarter final of the HMC foursomes competition.

With the fixture already delayed twice, the team was keen to get going. George and Archie Shakespeare were the first off the tee, with a big drive up the opening hill. Following on, Oliver May continued the fine opening shots, setting off with Aman Shah in this new pairing. Oliver Tutt and Andreas Photiou completed the team, with Oliver leading the way off the first.

The opening 9 holes proved challenging, but the match remained close until an injury led to one of the games starting to creep away. George and Archie produced a strong back 9 to tear away and produce a 4 and 3 win. Aman and Oliver battled away, but their oppoonent was on near perfect form and came away with a 7 and 6 loss. It was all down to Andreas and Oliver. As the outward uphill course turned to downhill on the way back, the lie of the ball was often tricky and despite some good shots by both, they lost to some consistent golf 4 and 3. A good afternoon enjoyed by all, with the new team showing promise against immensely tough opposition.

As the golf season looks set to get into full swing, the team will be getting ready for an ISGA area final next term.
