Match Report
Eastbourne College Golf Team vs  The King's School, Canterbury
On: Saturday, 10 Oct 2020
Venue: at Home

Eastbourne looked to keep the momentum going in the second round of the ISGA Matchplay compeititon. Another home tie, they welcomed Kings Canterbury in what was billed as a close match. Standing on the first tee, George Pepper, Toby Lock and Rupert Plumptre, they were looking to book a place in the area final. The principle today would be like trying to take off in an aircraft; always into the wind!

3 good tee shots from the 1st gave a boost to what would be a solid round. The first 3 holes into the wind proved challenging, but on reaching the turn and playing downwind, some immense shots followed. George Pepper and Rupert Plumptre made great drives at the 4th to keep things going, then Toby made light work of the longest par 4, playing a driver and iron to within 5 feet. Consistent scoring was the name of the game, the team bringing home 78 points in total and finishing strong. After some queries on the rules, Kings scored a respectable 58 points, playing later in the afternoon where the conditions stayed blustery across the day, giving Eastbourne the win overall.

A good afternoon enjoyed by all, they look to the regional final with opponents to be confirmed.
